Std Hrs: .6 FTE/ 48 hours per two weeks
The Pharmacy department is staffed by registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with experience in a pediatric pharmacy setting. They assess and monitor the patients responses to medication therapy against intended outcomes of care and work with professional staff and other health care providers to modify therapy if needed. They provide patient drug education and discharge counseling, consultation, specialized drug information services, as well as participate in educational and outreach programs.
The Pharmacy Technician has, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities in the Pharmacy Department: Intravenous product preparation, Unit dose cartfill, Inventory management, Automated and decentralized medication stocking (Pyxis), Outpatient prescriptions.
The percentage of time that a particular technician spends on specific responsibilities will differ depending on the number of tasks the technician is trained to complete. Technicians must be internally trained in a task prior to being able to perform the task on their own.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent is required
Certification with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy is required.
Certification upon hire OR achieved with in 6 months of start date.
Experience: Pharmacy technician experience preferred.
