Cherry Hospital, a State Psychiatric Hospital serving the eastern region of North Carolina, is recruiting for three Pharmacy Technician positions. The positions will perform traditional drug distribution duties such as filling daily medication carts, processing of new medication orders, replacing ward stock medications, and unit dose packaging of medication. The work schedule is generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday and some evenings and weekends.

**This posting is for three positions: # 65018611, 65018648 and 65018649.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

****Competency Level: Journey**** Salary Grade 60 Equivalent ****

*Experience with pharmacy automation systems is essential.

*Working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and formulas is required.

*Knowledge and a good understanding of individual drugs, dosages, and indications are needed.

*Good communication skills are essential both on the telephone and with other employees.

*Good “people” skills are also essential.

*Good vision is required in reading of medication orders and in the use of the pharmacy computer system.

*Knowledge of the acts permitted as well as the limitations of pharmacy technicians as defined by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

** Management prefers :

*Working knowledge of chemical procedures used to compound, dilute and reconstitute medications.

*Knowledge of automated dispensing systems, such as Omnicell.

*Board Certification as Pharmacy Technician.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Completion of an accredited nine-month Pharmacy Technician program or graduation from high school and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *As a condition for continued employment: must successfully pass all required parts of CPI’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention course.
