To provide a safe and comfortable phlebotomy experience for patients of various age groups, by selecting and caring for an appropriate venous or capillary site and correctly labeling and handling the proper blood collection tubes for tests ordered. May perform a variety of telephone and computer related activities regarding patient test orders, results, and report generation. May perform EKG procedures using SOP's for interpretation by Cardiologists.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred experience in phlebotomy
-Ability to read and comprehend SOPS and the departmental safety manual.
-Ability to effectively communicate both directly and via phone to patients and customers regarding areas of responsibility.
-Ability to recognize and solve basic problems in areas of responsibility and to refer involved issues to the Phlebotomy Coordinator.
-Ability to add, subtract , multiply and divide whole numbers.
-Ability to work under stressful situations and able to withstand the sight of blood.
-Ability to perform work under difficult situations such as trauma.
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in simple written , oral, or diagram form.
Preferred certification by ASCP or ASPT
Valid drivers license
