The College of Osteopathic Medicine at NYIT seeks a Physical Therapist, for the Academic Health Center located in Old Westbury. Upon physician referral, the Physical Therapist will provide patients with rehabilitative services, exercises, knowledge and education necessary to improve and maintain their quality of life.
Evaluates patients referred to Physical Therapy and determine treatment plan and recommendations based on evaluation findings.
Educates patients, and caregiver on diagnosis and secondary complications.
Provides home exercise program and maintain communication with referring physician.
Documents entire patient care (assessment, reevaluations, outcome, discharge, etc.) in patient’s medical record and complete billing within 24 hours.
Maintains confidentiality and adheres to AHCC/FHCC HIPAA compliance.
Assists as a student clinical instructor and participate in research as needed.
Conducts community awareness efforts (ex. Physician mailings, seminars. Lectures at local Parkinson group meetings) and participates in recruiting new patients.
Maintains equipment and stock as needed; attends conference to ensure yearly continued education and performs other duties as assigned.
A New York State License to practice Physical Therapy is required. Individual must maintain licensure at all times. Continuing education required. Two years of experience is preferred.
