Performs selected patient treatments under the general supervision of the Supervising and/or Staff Physical Therapist, or Director to ensure quality care. Assist in providing the overall direction, utilization, supervision and instruction of supportive staff and students working in the department. Completion of charges and paperwork on patients.
Administers physical therapy treatment plans as indicated by the supervising physical therapist to provide quality care to the patients.
Modifies patient treatments in conjunction with physical therapist.
Administers treatment programs to patients including, but not limited to, therapeutic exercises, isokinetic testing and training, gait training, therapeutic application of physical agents such as heat, cold, electricity, ultrasound, massage; and functional training.
Performs appropriate, timely documentation of patient care in accordance with department policy and procedures including recording patient’s reactions and progress during treatment.
Notifies physical therapist regarding any changes in patient’s condition or status.
Communicates regularly, verbally and in writing, to physicians or other health personnel when indicated.
Instructs and provides technical direction to technicians assisting in patient care activities.
Participates in guidance of physical therapy assistant students.
Counsels with patients and/or family as needed.
Establishes home programs for patients and instructs patient and family in the performance of exercises a indicated.
This is a Full Time position at our Germantown Clinic.
Must have graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum.
Licensure from the state of Tennessee and/or Mississippi depending on the location of employment.
Skilled and proficient in applying technical principles, concepts, and techniques which are central to the professional discipline of physical therapy.
