This position will be filled with either a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner and is being recruited under both disciplines simultaneously. DUTIES:The incumbent will be responsible for a panel of patients and will be expected to manage these patients and to assist with meeting the primary care needs of outpatients. The incumbent will be expected to have regular clinical hours. The selected individual will deliver comprehensive and direct health care services to patients; collaborate with other health care providers to provide health promotion, disease prevention, and management of medical and psychiatric illness/injury (acute/long term); manage case load of patients with both medical and psychiatric health conditions; assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate care that promotes wellness and prevents disease and/or injury and disability; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures; prescribe, administer, and evaluate pharmcotherapeutic and non-pharmcotherapeutic regimes; provide patient and family education and counseling. Additionally, the incumbent will possess the ability to function autonomously within a defined scope of practice as well as in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers and accountable for the delivery of comprehensive health and preventative care services. Performing initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients.
