Performs pre-operative evaluation, including but not limited to:
  • Review of pre-operative laboratory test results, consults, clearance statements, and work-ups
  • Contact patient if further work-up is needed
  • Contact patient's primary care Physician concerning work-up, if needed
Performs a variety of tasks on the day of surgery, including but not limited to:
  • HX and PE in Day Surgery
  • Get medications from Pharmacy
  • Get missing or out-of-date laboratory test results or workups redone
  • Retrieve films, if needed
  • Educate patient about procedure - risk, benefit, alternatives, TX
  • Coordinates and communicates with Day Surgery, Operating Room, Surgeon, etc.
Performs a variety of tasks on the day of surgery, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinates and communicates with Day Surgery, Operating Room, Surgeon, etc.
Performs post-operative procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Discharge plan education
  • Orders
  • Write post-operative prescriptions
  • Suture removal, drains, packing, wound evaluation.
Performs clinical duties:
  • Performs thorough HX and PE
  • Communicate with supervising MD
  • Chart work orders, scripts
  • Educate the patient regarding their DX and TX
Under the attending physician's supervision, performs teaching, administrative and clerical duties. Maintains clinical records, assists in documentation of care, within limits of hospital regulations, checks on report of studies, fill out requisitions for tests to be scheduled, prepare materials for clinical conferences, attend departmental scientific and clinical meetings.

Floors: In House Patient
  • Follow patients on floors
Write Orders:
  • Medicine, diet, laboratory activity, consults, etc.
  • Discharge and admits patients
Communicate with Attending

Requirements:
Valid NYS P.A. License.
At least five years of experience in an Orthopedic clinical environment.
