Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician’s data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans.
Work is performed under general supervision of a physician. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician.

Major/Essential Functions
Elicits detailed patient histories and determines reason for patient visit. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including history and results of physical examination. Teaches tentative diagnosis and orders appropriate laboratory tests. Administers and orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal. Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and would care, tattoo removal, and managing infection. Develops and implements patient management plan, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. May render emergency medical service without supervision, pending the arrival of a responsible physician, in cases where immediate diagnosis and treatment are necessary to avoid disability or death. Must be proficient in arrhythmia detection and interpretation; knows indication and contraindications for heart catheterization, EP studies, ablation therapy, pacemaker and ICD implants. Perform tracking analysis & follow up on all tests and procedures to ensure availability of results. Assist the department head, administrator, or clinic director with special projects such as annual fee analysis, inventory, compliance with CLIA , and other regulatory bodies and audits. Obtain specimens for lab testing and prepare documentation in patient chart and enter into tracking system. Performs related work as assigned by the Clinic Medical Director.

Occasional Duties

  • Graduated from an approved Physician Assistant training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
  • A person who has passed the examinations given by the National Commission on the certification of Physician Assistants.
