Caswell Developmental Center is a 400 bed Intermediate Care Facility that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is recruiting for a Physician Manager position. The Physician Manager is delegated with the responsibility to ensure all patients at Caswell Center receive quality care as it relates to medical issues. The position is responsible for leading and supervising medical physicians and physician extenders. The position will manage and participate in direct patient care; maintain and participate in an on-call schedule ensuring that a physician is always available; serve on Center Committees, monitor for quality medical care, research trend and treatment protocols, responsible for education of patients/families and provision for staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Physician Manager must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities in medicine required to meet the standards set my medical physicians practicing the community according to AMA guideline. Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of general, preventive, applicable specialty medicine and techniques involved. Knowledge of state, organizational and medical rules and regulations.
Knowledge of general and preventive medicine, including basic x-ray interpretation and evaluation of lab results required. Work well with many different disciplines. Maintain professional relationships with challenging patients, families and guardians. Possess strong written and verbal communications skills. Experience with intellectually disabled, geriatrics/or long-term care medicine, and experience with psychiatric patients is preferred.
**As a condition for continued employment: Must successfully pass all required parts of NCI's - Crisis Intervention course.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina and one year of experience.
