Overall responsibility for the assessment and treatment of all medical needs of Hospice patients. Certifies all patients diagnosis and prognosis prior to start of Hospice services. Performs patient physical and psychosocial health. Develops medical care related to the patient/family careplan along with other IDG members. Supervises and oversees activities of physicians employed by Hospice. Supervises Medical Students, Interns, Residents and Hospice staff assigned to Hospice program and/or its patients. Provides consultation to physicians and health care professionals in the community. Prepares and produces documentation from patient visits and discussions. Serves as Hospice Laboratory Director as required by New York State Department of Health Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program. Ensures that departmental/agency operates within established financial guidelines. Ensures all employees are oriented to their department/agency and job and provided with appropriate training, development and continuing education. Correctly interprets and applies all Human Resources policies and procedures relative to discipline, recruitment and selection, performance appraisals, salary reviews and staffing. Identifies potential risk issues and contributing factors in all areas of patient care, safety and legal matters, including potential for adverse publicity.

Job Requirements


Graduate from an accredited Medical College. Completion of post-graduate internship and residency required. Minimum of one year experience post residency program. Word and Excel. New York State MD licensure, CPR-BLS; Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License preferred. Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment. Possess effective communication, listening and organizational skills. Effective teaching and public speaking. Ability to work within budgetary restraints.
