General Description of Duties:
Performs a professional service in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of SALUD patients. This would include patients in the ambulatory setting as well as the corresponding hospital. The Physician approaches her/her tasks in a team based care fashion that supports patients and their families in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Adheres to the spirit of the SALUD mission statement while performing assigned duties.
All physicians are ultimately under the supervision of the Executive Vice President of edical Services. In a center or clinic, the physician also receives administrative supervision from the center director or clinic manager.
The physician exercises supervision over clinic staff as assigned. This would include physician supervision of non-physician practitioners, (i.e., mid-level practitioners such as Pas, NPs, CHAs, etc.).
Renders medical services to patients including history, examination, diagnosis, and treatment plan and enters this information into the electronic health system.
Provides medical services appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients in accordance with the principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric life cycles.
The Physician acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable population by ensuring that the patient is fully informed and comfortable with their visit to SALUD.
Is responsible for maintaining clinic charts in which he or she records the progress of patients, charts must be completed within 24 hours of patient visit. Maintains the accepted level of medical records requirements (i.e., problem lists, medication lists, flow sheets, etc.).
Is responsible to maintain active attending status at his/her corresponding hospital and be in good standing. Is also responsible to attend hospital committee meetings and functions as assigned for the hospital by-laws.
Attends and participates in other activities conducted by SALUD (i.e., staff training, educational sessions, meetings, etc.).
Follows procedures for the electronic health record system.
Is responsible to participate in clinic committees as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Appointment:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of general medicine and surgery. Thorough knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases and injuries. Ability to gain the confidence of patients and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with them and with other employees. Must work well with the other patient care team members. Ability to speak Spanish preferred. Sensitivity to low income and ethnic minority community a must.
Graduation from an approved school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Must be board eligible/certified.
No prior experience is required.
Possess a license to practice medicine in good standing in the State of Colorado.
