Pipe Welder
ASRC Energy Services - Alaska
The Pipe Welder is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level pipe welding and applying all aspects of welding procedures, including preheat temperatures, electrode selection, welding process, and quality control specifications in accordance with the specific metallurgical properties of the material involved. This position performs basic rigging procedures and structural steel fabrication. Detailed Description
Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and job specifications to determine work requirements.
Prepare material take offs based on isometric and orthographic drawings.
Construct and modify piping systems and process equipment.
Measure pipe routing and draft pipe configuration.
Dismantle, straighten, reshape, and reassemble parts using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.
Position, align, and weld pipes in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld components to secure the pipe in position for welding.
Maintain records of work orders and materials used.
Prepare reports and conduct inspections as required.
Supervise and coordinate the work of apprentice welders and other crew members.
Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations. Job Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years related training and experience required. Proficiency in down-hand and up-hand welding is required. Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.
Certifications
Certification in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) in accordance with American Welding Society D1.1 required. North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification may be required. Must be certified in AWS D1.1, SMAW B31.3, SMAW 1104, GTAW B31.3, GTAW/SMAW SS electrodes, and FCAW B31.3.

Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety
Administration (DOT/PHMSA)
Employees selected for this position are required to submit to DOT Drug and Alcohol testing. Additionally, AES will verify previous Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Records for the past two years, prior to working for the company, as well as the successful completion of DOT return-to-work requirements for violations.
