Location: North Slope, Alaska
This is a journeymen position that reports directly to the pipe foreman responsible for the scope of the work. The pipefitter lays out, positions, aligns and fits together pipe, fittings, flanges, etc. preparatory to welding by performing the following duties. May be asked to lead crews in foremen’s absence.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Plans and executes complex jobs with regard to tools and material needs, rigging and equipment.
Estimate, schedule and track progress of the work. Conduct material take-offs from advanced ISOs, P&ID’s and orthographic drawings.
Identify and apply material grades and pipe diameters to line specs.
Apply knowledge of fitting take-offs and advanced bolt up skills suing appropriate torque techniques.
Perform hydro tests of complex piping systems.
Walk down systems for safe-out and initiate the safest plan.
Field measure, fabricate and install complex piping systems and compound rolling offsets.
Apply mechanical skills and safely work with hand tools.
Apply advanced mathematical skills to skillfully calculate loads and select appropriate rigging.
Must be able to set up and operate an oxy-acetylene torch.
Cut and strip insulation.
Report all safety and environmental incidents to the proper supervisor.
Complies with all safety policies and the applicable safety handbooks, leads and educates fellow employees in safe work ethics, practices and behaviors.
Minimum Education and Experience
§ A 4 year high school degree (GED) and / or 5 years of experience in oil field construction, in pipe trade as a journeyman is required. Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment, in multiple locations with shifting priorities. Maintain good attendance and work with a positive attitude. Continued education to constantly upgrade skills is highly desired.
North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification and a valid Drivers License.
Must have a valid drivers license, and will need to meet the company and company's insurers driving policy requirements.
