Scope of Position: Responsible for all design phases related to projects for the natural gas transmission, distribution, exploration and production industry, including pipelines, compressor stations, gate stations, regulator stations and other pertinences.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Plan and conduct complete projects with diverse designs.
2.Act in lead role over other designers and/or drafters.
3.Create and document concepts, sketches, models, layouts, submittals, instructions, and complete production packages.
4.Identify and resolve incomplete or conflicting design inputs.
5.Perform design calculations, prepare material & equipment specifications, and provide sketches and notes for drawings.
6.Resolve problems by interpreting information from various engineering resources.
7.Prepare permit applications and traffic control plans to submit on behalf of the project owners to the permitting agencies.
8.Assist project managers and project engineers in keeping project on track and on time.
9.Coordinate with builders, developers, owners, permitting agencies, engineering firms etc. to collect project data and to facilitate timely and accurate completion of projects.
10.Update client databases and systems to comply with client requirements.
11.Perform assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities.
1.Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, petroleum engineering or related field with minimum of 4-6 years of midstream/transmission pipeline experience. Minimum of EIT designation, PE preferred.
2.Minimum of three (3) years of experience designing natural gas systems.
3.Minimum of three (3) years experience and proficiency in detail design work.
4.Minimum of five (5) years experience with computer applications and design software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, Microsoft Office, etc. Experience with 3-D pipeline modeling software (AutoCAD Plant 3-D) and hydraulic modeling (Flowmaster) software desired.
5.Knowledge of various codes and standards such as 49CFR192, 195, ASME B31.3 and D, API 5L etc.
6.Familiar with cathodic protection systems for pipelines and plants. NACE certification a plus.
7.Excellent communication skills in working effectively with government officials, clients, and staff members.
