The Piping Designer is responsible for piping design / process system drafting as well as engineering support of the general business needs of the corporation as determined by the Product Line Manager or EngineeringManager. The Piping Designer takes direction from the Product Line Manager regarding work-load priorities, personnel development, and departmental projects. The Piping Designer takes direction from the Engineering Manager for technical development/training including engineering/design software usage. The Piping Designer works with other group members in processing customer design requests, processing drawings and associated documents for proposals, orders, change requests, as well as any other assigned departmental tasks. Work assignments should be made based on the training and experience of the designer weighed against the complexity and criticality of the equipment and piping.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college, Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training or equialent combination of education and experience. Experience in Auto CAD Inventor is a plus.

Essential Duties and responsibilities include:

Review project specifications, design instructions, layout plan, flow diagrams, P&ID’s and any other customer / vendor information. Generate computer layouts using specifications, standard drawings, design instructions, layout plan, flow diagrams, P&ID’s, piping specifications and any other customer / vendor information. Generate GA drawings and detailed manifold drawings or isometrics. Generate complete bill of materials for all piping, fittings, components and equipment to enable the production staff to inspect, test and fabricate a complete operable system in accordance with the drawings. Check, verify and correct all drawings and associated project paperwork as required. Provide technical support to Sales, Quality Control, Project Manager and Production. Must be computer literate in AutoCAD and /or Inventor and Microsoft Office. Must have the ability to analyze various design requirements from design concept to finish design using AutoCAD and/or Inventor. Well versed in ASME B31.3 for process piping. Responsible for preparing Code calculations as required. May require travel to customer sites.
