PLANNER, Facilities-Campus Planning, Engineering, and Construction, to provide professional support for the Institute's planning activities. Will perform various aspects of campus planning activities including preparing area plans, land use studies, campus zoning, impact analysis, site analysis and transportation, and demographic and economic studies; work with local authorities, civic leaders, and city planning and development specialists to recommend and secure agreements for the use of land and physical facilities for academic, residential, and administrative buildings and community uses and transportation control; prepare project evaluations and monitor implementation of plans; assist and support staff in utilizing information systems, including coordinating training and proposal development; review and evaluate environmental impact statements, construction specifications, demographic studies, or other research to formulate plans and provide supporting analysis; produce or direct production of graphics, maps, and subarea plans; and undertake special projects. May review and process changes to campus plans, conduct site analysis, and prepare and present materials.

REQUIREMENTS: a minimum of a four-year college degree (master's in planning/management or urban planning preferred); at least three years' practice experience in planning, architectural, or engineering area; knowledge of the principles and practices of campus/institutional and urban planning in areas such as development impact analysis (visual, transportation, energy) and land use suitability, site analysis, and urban design; experience organizing and analyzing data, using statistical methods to validate results; and experience utilizing planning- and design-related software packages and desktop (PC) applications. Facility with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other visualization tools desired. GIS experience a plus. Experience in an academic setting or in a consulting or professional services role supporting an academic setting preferred. MIT-00009346-P
