The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2014. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $19.21 - $26.52 per hour.

Responsible technical work in the development, application and implementation of solid waste and recycling programs and related activites within specialized area of assignment.

Distinguishing Features of Work:

An employee in this class is responsible for performing technical work to provide customer service and assist in accomplishing Department goals. Duties include assisting and advising customers in completing and processing applications, permits and other documents in accordance with County regulations and procedures; reviewing applications, and issuing authorizations in accordance with Department policy; performing technical work in the development of policies, procedures, or services; and assisting senior staff in the development, application and enforcement of short and long range planning projects. The work is performed under the general supervision of a department administrator.

Selection Process:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
  • Graduation from an accredited four year college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Geography, Soil Science, or closely related field; OR Master’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Geography, Soil Science, or closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • NOTE: Promotion to the Planner I class may be authorized upon successful completion of one year experience as a Planning Technician; plus a minimum of one additional year paid experience in planning; and the recommendation of the department head.
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING ASSESSMENT - (Supplemental Questionnaire - 100% of the scoring process):
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this assessment.
