This position is responsible for the procurement of raw materials for leather goods manufacturing, finished leather goods and other emerging categories through the development and implementation of strategic buying plans and the management of supplier relationship. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, planning, production, inventory and accounting control and quality control.
Responsible for planning, developing and buying materials, parts, supplies and equipment in a timely and cost effective way; timely manner while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.
Dealing with suppliers and brokers.
Help to lower the cost and secure agreements.
Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, as necessary for the business with the supplier.
Monitor & establish best practices for purchasing & inter-company transfers to maximize fill-rates and reduce freight costs
Ensure all raw materials and finished goods are ordered within specifications and according to company quality programs.
Create, review and/or approve purchase orders
Manage purchase order/container tracking &expediting
Manage inter-company transfers
Monitor expenses relating to purchasing department
Negotiate pricing from various suppliers
Oversee system maintenance for vendor and products
Provide monthly report as needed
Monitor inventory to achieve 95% fill rate in each product category
Increase overall inventory turns to maximize cash flows
Coordinate annual inventory audits
Conduct/Manage semi-annual physical inventories for seven distribution centers
Orders and controls all raw materials and packaging in regards to price, inventories, and availability to ensure compliance to company policies and procedures.
Monitors raw material and finished goods inventories to ensure sufficient quantities exist to cover scheduled production and retail allocation and schedule changes to meet emergencies.
Contacts potential new suppliers to request periodic quotations, evaluate current market conditions and ensure the best pricing for the company.
Ensure suppliers who provide out-of-spec materials and/or finished goods are notified and provide credit on a prompt basis.
Utilize contract suppliers where contracts apply and ensure prices and specifications conform to contract terms.
Coordinate with other department managers to ensure proper purchasing, scheduling, processing, packaging, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures.
Ensure compliance to all federal, state and local laws, customer and company policies.
Personnel management experience required

Strong Analytical skills
Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills a must
Detail oriented - accuracy is essential
Critical thinking - ability to use logic and reasoning to analyze data
Ability to manage changing needs and priorities of the plants requirements
Excellent Communication skills
ERP system a plus
Import Experience a plus
Minimum 3 years' experience as Planning and Purchasing Manager
Leather goods manufacturing experience preferable.
