Reviews construction and site plans for commercial and residential buildings and structures to ensure building, safety, handicap, and fire prevention code compliance.
Reviews building and site plans for code compliance in the areas of safety, fire prevention, structural integrity, and handicap accommodation.
Provides technical safety code information to the Buildings Inspection staff.
Processes customer requests and complaints and interprets code requirements for inspectors, builders, homeowners, engineers, architects, attorneys, and other concerned parties.
Reviews safety codes and recommends changes and revisions as necessary.
Coordinates plans review information with County staff and departments, Fire Prevention Bureau, State Fire Marshal’s Office, local utilities, and other concerned parties.
Attends plans review conferences with builders, contractors, architects, engineers, etc.
Prepares and maintains necessary reports, records and other related documents.
Assists citizens and customers with inquiries regarding codes and structural plans review.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Forestry, or a related field; two years of experience in residential or commercial field inspection, environmental site inspection, building construction or a related field. Must obtain ICC Residential Combination Inspector or ICC Commercial Building Inspector Certification within two years of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. An equivalent combination of training and directly-related experience will be considered.
