tkore’s Plastic Pipe & Conduit Business Unit is searching for a Plant Accountant. The PPC Division has 7 plants in Ohio, Florida, Texas, Utah, Kentucky, Georgia and Oregon and is a manufacturer of PVC pipe, fittings and elbows serving the electrical, plumbing, irrigation and commercial markets. The position will be located in Carrollton, OH. The position works closely with the Plant Manager, and reports to the Regional Controller for the PPC North Division.
The Plant Accountant is responsible for updating and maintaining standard costs as well as controlling and monitoring inventory levels at multiple plants and warehouses. In addition, the Plant Accountant serves as the business partner to the Plant Manager, providing support on all matters relating to the plant performance, capital and other resource allocation decision analysis, and financial processes.
The Plant Accountant interacts closely with sales, supply chain, and warehouse operations.
>Update and maintain standard and actual costs by sku
>Control and monitor inventory levels at multiple plants and warehouses. Coordinate with plant managers the issue of PO’s for monthly resin buys
>Authorize releases of resin car shipments
>Manage off grade resin purchases
>Record inventory transactions in the ERP system. Oversee receipt and entry of production components.
>Analyze standard to actual cost variances. Recommend corrective actions as indicated by performance to meet P&L and working capital targets.
>Ensure that appropriate cost accounting and Atkore financial practices are followed
>Reconcile Inventory sub ledgers to General Ledger
>Maintain proper documentation of all books and records.
>Responsible for cost accounting and related plant accounting processes
>Supervise the completion of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for operations and product group management
>Provide management with the reliable information necessary to control operations.
> Support fixed asset capital spending and tracking requirements
>Lead and ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate book to physical adjustments made during cycle and annual inventory counts.
>Coordinate and direct the preparation for yearly budget and forecasts
>Assist in developing forecasts and budgets

>Bachelors Degree in accounting required - CMA is a plus.
>Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing company – inventory control experience a plus
>Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
>Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
>Experience with Lean Manufacturing
>Solid communication skills (both written and oral)
>Interpersonal skills allowing for a challenging and constructive engagement with all management levels of the organization
>Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to act with integrity and respect
>Self starter and able to work with minimal supervision
