Plant Maintenance Worker II (PMW II) is the semi-skilled, sub-journey classification in the Plant Maintenance Mechanic series. PMW II's assist higher-level workers in completing a wide variety of repair work requiring greater knowledge and understanding of the operation and maintenance of pumps, valves, motors, and mechanical processes involved in wastewater and water treatment systems. Assignments at this level involve corrective and preventive maintenance as well as general repair and rebuilding of plant facilities including the use of a variety of stationary and portable machine tools.
Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent, and 12 months of experience equivalent to the East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD) Plant Maintenance Worker I classification. Candidates must have achieved satisfactory completion of the on-the-job training, vocational school, and self study courses specified in EBMUD's Maintenance Trades Training Program. Must advance to Plant Maintenance Worker III within 18 months of appointment.
Completion of an accredited community college or comparable certificate program in plant maintenance technology or closely related field, acceptable to EBMUD, may be substituted for the required 12 months of experience.
The Selection Process:
1. Submit a completed EBMUD application and the required supplemental question responses online at www.ebmud.com by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013. Only application materials submitted online during the filing period will be accepted. Application materials faxed, mailed or delivered to EBMUD will not be accepted.
2. All qualified applications and supplemental responses will be competitively evaluated, with those candidates demonstrating the strongest qualifications for the position to be invited to a written test tentatively scheduled for mid to late April. A performance test will follow in late April or early May.
3. Successful candidates will be ranked on a hiring list for further consideration to fill any Plant Maintenance Worker II openings over the next 12 to 24 months.
