Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and results-oriented individual to join our Southport US Operations team.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the VP Operations, the Plant Manager is accountable for the safe, economic and reliable performance of the Plant; this means all facets of the operation of the Plant; including economic (cost) performance, plant availability, all regulatory, environmental and stakeholder matters, attraction, retention, training and development of Plant personnel.

Key accountabilities of the Plant Manager include:

Responsible for the safe, economic and reliable performance of the Plant; this means all facets of the operation of the Plant.

·

Actively participating as a member of the Capital Power Leadership team.

This includes playing a leadership role with respect to the development of a "zero incidents" safety culture and modeling the corporate values of Capital Power.

·

Effectively manage all site resources, people, financial budgets material and time in order to ensure maximum efficiency in planning, forecasting and allocation.

·

Provide leadership to continuously improve the performance of the Plant in terms of costs, maintenance, health, safety and environment.

·

Identify

the necessary annual budget and multi-year requirements for the provision of the operations and maintenance of the facility as well as sustaining capital expenditures.

·

Develop, implement and review Plant processes and procedures to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.

·

Responsible for staff development and succession planning for your team by providing your team with excellent performance feedback, appropriate rewards and consequences.

·

Ensures compliance with all relevant federal and state regulatory requirements along with company policies and procedures.

This also includes ensuring that the plant is also operated and maintained according to Company Policy.

·

Ensures that Capital Power has a positive, visible image in the community.

Job Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will hold a Professional engineering degree or equivalent technical certification from an accredited Stationary or Marine engineering program. You will also have 10 years of related and progressive experience in a leadership type setting, and a knowledge of the operation and maintenance procedures of a power generations plant including steam turbines, gas turbines, waste heat boilers and balance of plant equipment.

The incumbent in the role will also have skills related to financial management, and strategy formulation - and a working knowledge of accounting, marketing, and project management and negotiating.

You have the ability to lead a team in a manner that is positive and constructive and are able to build a high level of employee loyalty and engagement. You are a masterful coach who knows how to get the best out of your employees and acts with confidence, competence, and respect and is trusted by others.
