Job Summary:

Operates plant facilities’ various equipment/systems including, but not limited to: cryogenic plant processing, hydrocarbon fractionation units, process controls and measurement, pumps, pressure relief system instrument air system, dehydrators, fuel system, emergency shutdown systems, gas turbines, reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, gas fired boilers, process pumps, amine treating systems, inlet gas receivers and NGL storage and transfer facilities. Also operates radio, performs lab tests for quality assurance, diagnoses mechanic problems, makes minor repairs as needed, assists other craft personnel and various other duties as assigned. Seeks to optimize processing throughout the facility and maintain proper product specifications. Responds to alarms and problems within the plant and makes appropriate corrections accordingly. Responsibilities also include Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control (SPCC) reporting and monitoring environmental compliance. Also performs lock out/tag out procedures and may monitor field compressor status through the use of SCADA. The selected candidate will be required to pass all Process Safety Management (PSM), Department of Transportation (DOT) and facility specific operator certifications.

Working Conditions:

Wear Safety Equipment as required, including Fire Retardant clothing. Works indoors & outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment. Required to climb about equipment and work in confined areas (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels). Works in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment. Wears safety equipment as required. Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools. Climbs and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position. Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 100 foot pounds of torque. Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads. Must be able to lift and put on emergency breathing apparatus and/or protective equipment. Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT)drug and alcohol testing requirements. Works rotating shifts and works overtime as needed.

Successful candidate will be expected to also cross train as Truck Rack Operator.

This job may be staffed at any of the following levels, depending on qualifications and experience: Utility I, Utility II, Utility III, Plant Operator X, Plant Operator I or Plant Operator II.

Basic Qualifications:

High school degree or GED
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Expected to Work Safely and Must have a Good Safety Record with NO Incidents in the last year.
Must be able to follow written or spoken work instructions in English
Must be willing to work rotating shifts
Must be willing to work overtime as needed
Must be able to pass all Process Safety Management (PSM), and facility specific operator certifications.
May need to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications.

Desired Qualifications:

Prefer someone with gas fire turbine, SRU and gas treating experience.
Two (2) years previous operations experience in a gas processing facility
Mechanical or instrumentation background is helpful, but not required
Able to perform basic mathematical equations
Able to assume responsibility, perform duties and handle tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
Able to make decisions and corrections when problems are detected
Mechanical aptitude
Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Able to work well with others
Able to perform work independently
Good organizational skills
Good customer relations skills
Open to learning and take pride in a job well done
Extremely reliable and dependable
Demonstrate sound judgment
