This Plant Technician 2 position supports research and extension activities relating to the Christmas tree, forestry and ornamental nursery crop disease management program at WSU Puyallup. Duties include the propagation, planting, and care of Christmas trees, ornamentals, and various woody plants. Plants typically are grown under greenhouse and field conditions. The incumbent may lead part-time helpers and will be responsible for plant production activities, such as weeding, irrigating, fertilizing, pest management, and general care of plants.

This is a project position and is expected to end on 6/30/2014. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance, the need for extension to complete the project, and/or if additional funding is secured to extend the appointment. Position Details: Position Details Continued: Minimum/Required Qualifications: High School graduation or equivalent; and three years of work experience in plant research, propagation, or related work; OR equivalent education/experience. Minimum/Required Qualifications continued: Must have a Washington State Certified Pesticide Applicator License, or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.

Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License by time of hire. Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights/weekends.
