Identify and screen donors by reviewing medical records and logs and evaluating the customer for suitability. Screening includes asking health related questions; taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and temperature) and reviewing results; taking blood to determine hematocrit, and total protein,; and handling and interpreting urine specimen results. Maintain donor confidentiality. Explain the useage of plasma as well as plasmapheresis procedures to new donors and other information pertinent to the donor. Track, order, and document physical examinations, as necessary. Calibrate and perform quality control procedures for equipment utilized, such as hematocrit centrifuge, refractameter, donor scale, vital check instrument. Communicate various and changing donor fee and bonus programs, at all times maintaining a friendly but professional level of interaction with donors. Maintain logs and records applicable to cash payments as directed by Plasma Center Manager. Responsible for maintaining the security of cash funds per Center protocol. Demonstrate strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, and remain current regarding SOP changes. Serves as a role model. eview donor record files for accuracy and completeness, prepare donor for phlebotomy and assist phlebotomist in all aspects of plasmapheresis. Draw laboratory samples if qualified. Draw samples utilizing a sterile technique. Prepare viral marker samples for shipment to the laboratory. Monitor specialty samples, screens and submissions. Prepare and quality control of shipments. Assist Center Management with recruitment and retention plans as specified in program guide. Formulate and implement creative ideas to enlarge customer base. Maintain inventories and records. Order supplies, provide for supplies in any emergency situation. Oversee inventory and control over usage.
Under direction of Center Management interview prospective employees. Assist with counseling, planning staffing levels, directing, coordinating and motivating staff to meet Center goals.
AssistCenter Management with daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly required written information to Biotest corporate offices regarding analysis of Center Operations. Research information and data requests made by Center Manager. Become proficient in the use of the System for Management.
Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities, provide friendly customer service, have good judgment about people, and flexibility. Must have some accounting and budgeting knowledge. Ability to analyze production and budget numbers and project trends and results. Able to read and understand complex regulations and procedures and be able to construct and communicate them to staff. Ability to supervise and delegate indirectly. Basic computer skills required as well as excellent customer service skills.
One to two years of front line supervisory experience, office work, required. A bachelor's degree and or professional license in the medical field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities can offset the experience requirements. Bachelors degree in biological sciences highly preferred; however, experience can be substituted. Some educational background in field of hematology preferred but not required. Appropriate training while serving with the US. Armed forces can off set the educational requirements.
