(Primary purpose of the position.)
This position will focus on helping deploy Infrastructure solutions in the Clinical Area. It will provide technical skills that cover a broad range of disciplines and/or a particular technical discipline that is of significance to HCA. Perform any technical project assigned with minimal supervision. Identify, investigate, evaluate and become proficient in new technologies and technical disciplines (with a focus on Windows/Unix and Network) that are of significance to HCA Healthcare.

A Platform Engineer will be responsible for working with more Senior Level Engineers to provide in depth technical review, engineering, administration, analysis, trending, and reporting of all supported configurations. Primary duties will include high-level administration of hardware and software in a multi-platform environment, technical documentation, project management, engineering, issue resolution, and technical presentations. Specific responsibilities include installation of software products on various hardware platforms, operating system installation and customization where applicable, troubleshoot, assist and advise in recovery from component failures of supported systems.

§ Review, interpretation, and implementation of new network and server infrastructure based on detailed design specifications provided by more experience engineers.
§ Verification of quotes and procurement of new storage hardware and software
§ Creation and delivery of Quality Outcomes Package to operations personnel for ongoing support transitional needs
§ Assist in the performance of Operational Readiness Testing (ORT) to validate infrastructure is built and sustainable
§ Provide assistance with performance testing, monitoring the infrastructure that supports a specific application
§ Assist in the certification and work with senior level engineers in the design of new storage and Unix technologies
§ Knowledge of supported operating systems, utilities, vendor products, applicable programming languages, diagnostic techniques, database management systems, benchmarking methodologies, applicable communications protocols, applicable hardware configurations, use of statistical and analytical tools for system monitoring and evaluation will be a big plus. .
§ Ability to communicate with various levels and types of end users is also required.
§ Maintain frequent interaction with internal and vendor technical staffs and project managers to ensure effective delivery of solutions in accordance with project timelines and associated budgets.
Identifies and documents IT&S Network and Server Deployment processes and procedures.
Certification for multiple hardware platforms and the interrelationship / Interoperability of different operating systems and complex environments.
Patch management, release management, configuration management.
Participates in the Disaster/Recovery effort.
Can be asked to provide 7 day 24 hour support for all production related problems and concerns as situations warrant
Proven track record of project delivery results.
Some knowledge of Network and Windows/Unix technologies is very desirable.
Experience with virtual technology, such as, VMWare ESX, IBM LPARs, VIO servers, and micro-partitions is highly desirable.
Experience with OS (Windows, Aix or Linux) environment running one or more databases including SQL, Oracle, DB2 desirable.
Requires demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Good understanding and some experience with operating system concepts and practical implementation of those fundamentals in a production environment.
Previous application development coding, debugging, testing and delivery into a production environment are highly desirable.
1+ years experience with network fundamentals and performance principles, including a firm understanding of TCPIP protocols is a plus.
