DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

This is manual work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing and heating systems. Work involves performance of skilled plumbing tasks in maintaining, repairing and servicing a variety of fixtures and equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work is performed independently. Assignments are normally received orally or through written work orders. Work is inspected on completion for conformity to instructions and equality of work.

DUTIES

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with casino personnel to discuss and design projects.
  • Unclog commodes, urinals, lavatories, and sewer lines; repair/replace fixtures/parts sewer lines as necessary; connect new fixtures to existing water supply lines; replace leaky and corroded pipes.
  • Installs new water lines/drain lines/vents and connect to existing plumbing fixtures.
  • Operate plumbing equipment such as roto-rooters, forklifts, jack hammers, pipe threaders/locators, torches, backhoes, and front-end loaders.
  • Maintain space heaters, water heaters, and grease traps.
  • Repair/replace irrigation parts for lawns; inspect/repair backflow preventers on sprinkler water lines.
  • Prepare material lists for completion of plumbing jobs.
  • Service and maintain water softeners.
  • Provide for a safe and secure workplace.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and vendors.
  • Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  • Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position

  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism in the workplace, including standards for appropriate dress and appearance, respect for each team member, satisfactory attendance, open communication, job knowledge, a desire to succeed, and in all activities where you represent the Facilities Department through trust, productivity, confidentiality, and the highest levels of customer service.
  • Act as a department champion, promoting the department's and company services and functions to other employees, other departments, vendors, applicants and others who visit the department and property.
  • Be responsive, accountable and provide feedback to management inquires for information, clarification, suggestions or observations regarding operational, staffing, mentoring, customer service, personal development and productivity.
  • Serve as a team member of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, following the code of conduct, displaying the highest level of ethics and integrity in action, thoughts and conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS

Certificates, licenses and registration

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Gaming Commission license.
  • Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
Education/ Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in plumbing, including completion of an approved apprenticeship program or equivalent evidence of journey level status.
  • Carry out assigned tasks and make timely decisions.
  • Must be able to work in conjunction with casino employees.
  • Ability to operate a variety of repair equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Any combination of education beyond the minimum requirement as well as any experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered
Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasional exposure to fumes of airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
  • Moderate Noise levels
  • Exposure to second hand smoke
