Performs plumbing inspections to insure code compliance of plumbing plans, construction, installation, and alterations.
Performs field inspections of plumbing for water, sewer, and gas to insure compliance with plumbing codes.
Coordinates with Health Department to ensure compliance with health codes.
Approves/disapproves plumbing installations which are in violation of codes.
Conducts follow-up inspections to determine compliance to code violations.
Insures appropriate action is taken to bring code violations into compliance by issuing warnings and serving court summons.
Appears and testifies in court concerning non-compliance of code.
Assists in interpreting code requirements.
Completes and maintains department inspection records; prepares monthly reports.
Responds to customer’s questions and complaints.
High school diploma or GED; four years of experience as a journeyman plumber or a related field, two of which must have been in plumbing code inspections. Must possess a valid State of Georgia Class II Plumber's license. ICC Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification, ICC Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Level 1A Certification required. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. A combination of training and experience above the minimum requirements will be considered.
