CLASS DEFINITION
Performs unskilled and semiskilled duties in the general upkeep of Police Department vehicles, Police buildings, and range facility; and transports and delivers a variety of City documents.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the direct supervision of the assigned police sergeant.

Essential Duties:
Transports department vehicles to City Yard, car wash, other places of repair, or where needed.

Maintains equipment in City vehicle trunks and orders supplies via chain of command.

Performs Police Building maintenance duties such as trash pickup, light bulb replacement, sweeping, etc.

Delivers miscellaneous paperwork, photos, mail, and reports to various departments and people. OTHER JOB-RELATED DUTIES
Works with property clerk moving large boxes, articles, etc.

Assists in the maintenance of the pistol range, such as equipment pickup and delivery.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Guidelines:
Knowledge of :
Safe operation of motor vehicles. Ability to:
Drive a motor vehicle safely and competently.

Follow oral and written instructions.

Prioritize duties.

Learn City geographic layout.

Learn and follow department rules and regulations.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, City officials and the public. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

Physical :
Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including working indoors or outdoors; working closely with others; working alone; and working with machinery and operating vehicles.

Ability to safely lift and carry up to 45 pounds. License :
Requires a valid California Driver’s License. Other Special Requirements :

Must be 18 years of age.

Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION :

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledges, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledges, skills, and abilities would be:

Education : Graduation from high school.
Experience : Previous experience is desirable, but not necessary. NOTE
