This position works at the Palm Springs Police Department and is responsible for compiling, preparing, and maintaining a variety of detailed statistical reports; to serve as a court liaison officer; and to perform a variety of clerical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Examples of Essential and General Responsibilities:
Verify data and prepare detailed statistical reports involving the seven major crimes and arrest/booking statistics required by the Federal and/or State government.
Perform computer input and retrieval of data and text.
Maintain local programs for subpoenas, work processing and statistics.
Access the County Court computer for retrieval of information on closed and pending court cases.
Prepare continuances for department personnel.
Prepare and submit daily court list of personnel who have been subpoenaed for court.
Coordinate subpoenaed personnel.
Receive requests for information from other City departments, outside government agencies, private organizations, news media and the public for release of statistical information.
Release information according to established policies and procedures.
Compile and complete fingerprint cards for a variety of individuals including all city employees, reserve police officers and Mounties as well as applicants for specialized permits, e.g., concealed weapons, taxi/limo and related applicants.
Balance monies and complete documents for accounts payable for payment to the state.
Compile data and maintain detailed records reports including collection of fees for daily reports, warrants, bail money, applicants and subpoenas.
Collect and balance monies and receipts from the department. Draft final receipt for submittal to the Finance department.
Act as court liaison officer for the Police department.
Receive, post and collect subpoenas fees daily.
Deliver subpoenas to appropriate supervisor.
Coordinate civil subpoenas and depositions for department personnel including collecting and returning of subpoenas fees.
Order office, armory and form supplies for the department; contact vendors for pricing.
Prepare documents for accounts payable for payment of supplies.
Order supplies for and insure that all first aid stations meet OSHA requirements.
Operate a variety of office machines including computers, facsimile machines, copiers and typewriters.
Explain computer system policies and procedures to new employees as needed.
Record request for service of warrants; notify appropriate agencies of the disposition of warrants.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum and Preferred Requirements:

Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience with a police department or similar law enforcement agency, involving the maintenance of police records is required. Experience with a California Police Agency is preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
This position works in a Police department office environment with exposure to computer screens and may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time and moderate or light lifting or carrying.
