Port Engineer (Lake Charles, LA):
This Port Engineer position requires 7-10 years of experience in marine engineering with sailing experience as a USCG licensed engineer or industry equivilant. This position is working with high horsepower ocean-going tugs with DP (Dynamic Positioning) systems and CPP (Controllable Pitch Propellers), and large heavy-lift deck barges.

Management position with responsibilities to include the repair, maintenance, modification, and operation of equipment and systems of CMS tugs and heavy lift barges. This includes the direction, interpretation, and administration of company policies and procedures. Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure all operations are carried out safely and in conformance with applicable laws and regulations. Requires developing, executing, and monitoring maintenance and repair budgets, while keeping within the limitations of designated annual or project budgets. Responsible for implementation and monitoring of customer and Crowley Quality Assurance Plans, SMS, and compliance with contract deliverables. Conducts on-site vessel assessments to determine operational, maintenance and repair needs. Responsible for the timely and cost-effective execution, supervision, and monitoring of maintenance and repair activities, the procurement of spare parts for vessel systems, and tracking of same within the fleet management software program (NS5). Develop specifications and vendor bid packages, and participate in bid package evaluation process. Monitors the contractors and / or shipyards during projects, therefore requires the ability to effectively manage shipyard and other large projects that may vary in nature and scope.

This position is expected to be based in Lake Charles, LA; however, it will also require periods of time in other locations in the Gulf of Mexico and other US areas. Occasional foreign travel to meet vessel operational schedules may be required.

7-10 years of experience in marine engineering with sailing experience as a USCG licensed engineer. Must possess management skill sets and demonstrate proven experience in developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. All Crowley positions require proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft project and Power Point is desired. Experience and proficiency with NS5 Maintenance & Purchasing Program preferred. Candidate should indicate any experience/training with ocean going tugs, AHTS, DP vessels, CPP propulsion systems, and Caterpillar C-280 engines.

Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or at least seven years in a marine related engineering field. USCG Licensed Engineer or industry equivalent.

Position works outside in conditions of both hot and cold temperatures as well as inside in an office environment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom, to climb ladders and to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. Exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially hazardous equipment. May involve travel to multiple locations and extended stays out of home location. Long hours, short notice travel, weekend duties and 24-hour on-call status essential job requirements. Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health.
