The Portal Lead is responsible for serving as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more applications and providing technical leadership to a team of developers. The Portal Lead reports directly to the Senior Manager, Knowledge Management & Collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Incumbents in this position will be accountable to:
• Interpret business requirements and define technical alternatives, tools, and approach
• Develop, test, implement and document the technical solution to address the defined business requirements.
• Work with other team members to define effort estimates, time tables and project plans.
• Participate with the development team and IT staff as appropriate in the design of solutions.
• Collaborate with other technical areas to integrate across tiers, platforms, and responsibilities.
• Ensure that expected application performance levels are achieved.
• Plans and conducts module and basic integration testing
• Manage technical aspects of application to ensure timely and effective implementations
• Understand and comply to Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps

Extensive functional experience on critical applications multiple platforms / environments.

Has significant influence in developing IT and System Development business strategy and aligns and develops department strategic plan to support the business strategy.

Ability to effectively influence teams and individuals without direct managerial responsibility.
Functional and Technical experience is needed including developing portlets and knowledge of Liferay configuration.
Must have experience in Liferay Hooks, Liferay Themes, Layouts, Liferay Design. Nice to have Liferay CMS and Liferay Service Builder.
Strong understanding of OOAD, UML models, Enterprise Content Management, Information Architecture (Taxonomy), design patterns and application development processes and practices.
Must have good design experience using various UI application frameworks such as spring, struts, JSF, portlets (JSR-286 and JSR-168), Alloy, etc.
Has knowledge of one or more Web Content Management products like IBM Web Content Management, Alfresco, Adobe CQ5, Oracle WebCenter Content/Sites, TeamSite, etc. Portal certifications and training not limited to Liferay will be a plus.
Knowledge of capacity and performance planning for large scale portal solutions.
Experience in consuming and producing Liferay Web Services. Sound knowledge on SOA/BPM concepts and products around ESB, SOAP/REST based Web Services etc would be an added advantage.
Continuous Integration and TDD through the use of CVS, SubVersion, Ant/Maven and JUnit with code analysis using PMD etc.
Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies (Operating Systems, security, network, storage etc) with thorough understanding of scalable, highly available, secure and robust n-tier architectures
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline is required. MS preferred.
Certified technical professional in relevant technologies.
Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience including solution architecture, design of enterprise applications on the Java, J2EE platform with at least 2 years of in-depth knowledge of Liferay Portal.
