The Portfolio Compliance Group (PCG) is a global team within the Aladdin Portfolio Services Group (APS), one of the core functions within the Business Operations Group at BlackRock. The team is responsible for implementing controls & processes to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and portfolio guidelines. The team fulfills this mission primarily by extracting, analyzing, coding and monitoring client, regulatory and internal investment guidelines on the firm’s Aladdin system. The team is engaged with and provides services to many other departments across the firm, including: Portfolio Management, Trading, Global Client Group, Technology, Operations and Legal & BlackRock Solutions.

Job Background & Key Responsibilities:
The Portfolio Compliance Group at BlackRock is seeking outstanding candidates to join a vibrant and growing team. The group is a critical unit within the organization and is a central link in the investment process. The position has significant visibility with senior management and direct interaction with other units of the firm. Responsibilities are dynamic, but typically include:

  • Understanding client and regulatory investment guidelines and translating them into BlackRock’s Aladdin compliance system
  • Monitoring and reviewing compliance rule exceptions on a daily basis for assigned accounts
  • Becoming acquainted with BlackRock’s various Aladdin applications, trade flow process, and data environment
  • Designing new system rules, enhancing existing compliance coding, and investigating or troubleshooting potential errors when needed
  • Participating in efficiency and improvement initiatives by providing ideas and suggestions on possible enhancements to systems or processes
  • Working with the BlackRock Solutions team for external client implementations of Aladdin

Skills & Competencies:
College graduates with a background in finance or similar fields are preferred. Knowledge of financial instruments and markets is beneficial. Although not required, knowledge of programming languages (such as Visual Basic, C++, or Java) and an understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) are beneficial.
