Reports to the Principal Investigator. Responsibilities include designing, conducting, and analyzing scientific experiments in her/his field; presenting research results in oral and written formats; developing and maintaining knowledge of the current scientific literature. Operates highly independently. May supervise lower level project employees.
Design and perform research projects studying metabolic diseases independently.
Report and present research findings and developments.
Devises new protocols and techniques for research projects.
Maintain the line of transgenic mice.
Responsible for maintenance of laboratories, equipment and supplies.
Consults with faculty on projects and provides guidance to students; instructs and trains students and research staff in established techniques and procedures.
Maintains general laboratory cleanliness and safety, and enforces regulations as necessary.
Continual development of professional skills.
Conceptual understanding of research issues.
Technical expertise in performing experiments, especially with animals.
Ability to independently produce, analyze, and present scientific data.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to write and publish independently.
Ph.D. is required.
Doctoral level research training experience.
