A post-doctoral position for one year is available immediately in
the Energy Nanotechnology and Materials Chemistry Team at Medgar
Evers College of the City University of New York. The candidate will
be working in close connection with the PI Dr. Michele Vittadello in
developing an electrochemical power storage/generation devices
program. Research activities in two directions are envisioned:
1) The assembly and characterization of novel battery systems based
on Al and Mg chemistries;
2) Multi-elemental electrocatalysts based on graphene oxide.
Medgar Evers College offers state-of-the-art instrumentation in
support of the proposed research themes including FT-IR, FT-Raman,
thermal analysis, multi-channel potentiostat-galvanostat, glove box,
high-energy ball-milling system, 96-channel battery cycler, battery
crimper, powder X-ray diffractometer, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-MS, UV-Vis
diffuse reflectance, SEM, and a 300-MHz liquid NMR. A new AFM with
electrochemical capabilities is in the process of being purchased.
The base salary will be $37,000 per annum.
The candidate will be allowed to teach one college level course of
his choice. The position will be subject to extension depending on
the availability of funds.
The candidate will be engaged in hands-on laboratory activities and
will help the PI in finalizing his ongoing grant-writing and
The candidate will also have the opportunity of conducting solid-
state NMR measurements in the lab of Dr. Steve Greenbaum at Hunter
College of CUNY and other collaborators across the CUNY system.
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Electrochemistry or related discipline.
