This is a highly skilled postdoctoral research position for a Ph.D. level individual to develop assays and examine subtelomere recombination in mammalian tumor cells.
Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology, genomics or related field required.
1 yr. experience with Molecular biology techniques (Southerns, qRT-PCR, PCR, Northerns, Westerns) or skills utilized in a cancer biology research laboratory, required.
Working knowledge of DNA repair, telomeres, recombination, or retrotransposons, required.
Ability and willingness to write a grant for an individual postdoctoral fellowship (NRSA) from the NIH or from other private sources within the first 2-4 months after beginning the position, required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, required.
Ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary research team required.
Ability to perform experiments with initiative and independence, under general guidance from the PI, required.
1 yr. hands on experience with mouse tumor models, preferred.
1 yr. hands on experience with tissue culture including tumor cell lines or primary cells, preferred.
Unix, Perl, R or related programming skills preferred.
Microarray (aCGH) or Next generation sequencing experience preferred.
