Major/Essential Duties of Job

Design and implement watershed hydrologic simulations to mitigate environmental and ecological impacts of biofuel production Coordinate collection of hydrologic data and maintain GIS data sets Develop and program code for new SWAT algorithms Other job related duties as deemed necessary Participate in training seminars and workshops dealing with new technology Meet regularly with Texas AgriLife, ARS and NRCS staff associated with modeling projects to discuss current problems and to determine improvements and to develop grant proposals. Cooperate in developing grant proposals Publish and present research findings in professional meetings and in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, research cooperators and stakeholders.

Required Education:
PhD in water resources/water management, or environmental sciences

Preferred Education:
Required Experience:
A complete understanding of watershed modeling is required for this position. In addition to a technical understanding of model processes, experience is needed in data input development and geo-spatial design, model conceptualization and coding, and autocalibration and uncertainty analysis. Experience working in a modeling team environment is also needed.

Required special knowledge, abilities, and skills:
1) programming in FORTRAN and Visual Basic, 2) developing and coding watershed model algorithms with specific knowledge of the SWAT model, 3) watershed model calibration, and 4) sediment transport modeling and in-stream processes.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with other faculty, clientele, and research administrators.
