Join an exciting research team at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in a study of Amazon forest structure, ecology, and biogeochemical cycling using multi-temporal airborne LiDAR data. Large area (1000 ha) LiDAR coverage and coincident field data from a dozen research sites in the Brazilian Amazon will be used to assess dynamics of forest growth and disturbance. Research duties include leading the analysis and interpretation of LiDAR and field data to characterize Amazon forest structure and function. Specific study themes are the spatial distribution of forest biomass, edge effects, changes in forest structure from logging and fire, and development of new, spatially-explicit models of tropical forest function.
