The Power & Water Senior Sourcing Legal Counsel will provide support to the Power & Water Sourcing organization. This job involves working closely with the business operating units of Power & Water in structuring, negotiating, and documenting transactional work in the global procurement of material and finished goods. In this role, you will:

Essential Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key member of cross-functional teams implementing business objectives in domestic and international contexts
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external service providers and internal customers
  • Play an executive leadership role in key supplier negotiations via working with local, regional and global teams to maximize the effectiveness of the Global spend
  • Continue streamlining processes while developing and using tools to standardize and improve transparency and compliance in all areas of the Sourcing process
  • Effectively drive localization of Sourcing contract documentation especially outside the US
  • Support Growth via both active interactions with suppliers but with involvement on the sell side of the business
  • Lead in the boundaryless law firm support model via both direct support and calling upon peers for support across the globe
  • Take a leadership role in the Sourcing practice group across GE

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a law firm or in-house corporate counsel position with emphasis on negotiating and documenting transactional work in procurement / sourcing ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Member in good standing with a State Bar

    Desired Characteristics
  • Deep commercial law (UCC) experience and expertise
  • Ability to provide creative solutions while juggling multiple priorities; initiative to take on new challenges and lead change in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively
  • Solid grasp of a global organization and the complexity of working across cultures
  • Strong legal acumen, superior ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and creatively while integrating legal, transactional work
  • Successful track record in a Global Sourcing organization
  • Customer focused, entrepreneurial, self-reliant, engaged
  • Prior experience in providing legal advice and support to an Industrial business
  • Previous management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
