As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will research, develop, analyze, and test advanced power electronics. This will be accomplished by synthesizing your research with the latest advances in passive and active components to meet the current and future requirements of GE products.
Conduct and perform research projects in power conversion for GE businesses, such as GE Aviation, GE Healthcare, GE Energy, GE lighting and external customers, such as US government agencies.
applications such as utility electric power, aviation, renewables, and lighting and medical power electronics.
Conduct power electronics research involving modeling and simulation, building lab scale prototype, circuit and system testing, lead in the writing technical reports, and preparing and delivering presentations for customers and engineering leaders.
Implement DSP/FPGA controls for power electronics applications.
Collaborate with both GE product engineers and with global research team members on technical projects
Formulate and propose research programs for GE internal and external customers
Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with at least 3 years of experience in power conversion technologies OR Masters in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years post degree experience in power conversion technologies
Knowledge and experience in power conversion technologies including the following areas Power electronics circuit topologies and analyses; Power electronics specific digital controls
Familiar with circuit and system simulation tools such as Saber, Matlab/Simulink, PLECS, or PSPICE
Familiar with hardware description language VHDL or Verilog

Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.

Knowledge of integrated packaging technologies for power electronic components (semiconductors, passives etc.) and advanced thermal management
Advanced magnetics material and components, advanced capacitor technologies and energy storage components
Expertise on EMI noise reduction technologies latest power semiconductor devices - Si as well as SiC and GaN based wide band gap power switches.
Experience with real time and embedded digital controls for power converters with FPGA and DSP – hardware, firmware and software
High curiosity with broad technical interests
Creative and demonstrated capability for innovation
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to stimulate others and demonstrated can-do attitude
