Supervisor's Title: Manager, Design & Engineering

Location: NFM

Work Hours: M – F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional call out

Position Summary: This position is also responsible for performing a broad scope of technical duties and engineering assignments, supporting senior staff, in a variety of disciplines within the Electric Operations division.

Position Responsibilities & Rotations:
General Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Reporting: Produce, analyze, manage relevant data. Conduct independent studies. Provide observations, interpretations and recommendations.

Electric System Knowledge: Learn & understand LCEC's electric system components and activities. Interface with various personnel & departments to ensure efficient resolution to issues. Expand knowledge of industry standards, developments and technology.

Project Management: Participate on project teams where teams are responsible for project scheduling, cost management and coordination of all aspects of the project. Take the lead on smaller project initiatives.

Process Improvement: Facilitate continuous improvement by producing documentation of process areas

Contract Administration: Prepare & administer construction contracts.

Technical Specs & Standards: Prepare and maintain technical specs and standards.

Relationship Building: Maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.

Rotational Areas may include:
Transmission: Assist in phases of design, permitting and construction of capital transmission projects, and for establishing and maintaining transmission material and construction standards.

Substation: Assist in the design and construction of new substations and modifications of existing ones.

Protection: Assist in the design, coordination and construction of protective devices & relaying systems, including transmission, substation and distribution.

Planning: Assist with analyzing performance of electric power distribution system in order to maximize the operating efficiency of the existing plan and to identify anticipated deficiencies. Collect & manage electric system performance data, demographic data, perform computer simulations of existing or expected electric system configurations, and monitoring and maintaining phase balance throughout the transmission and distribution systems.

Power Quality: Investigate inquiries regarding power quality or voltage problems. Conduct analysis of locations experiencing abnormal frequency of outages and/or service interruptions.

Reliability: Maintain reliability metrics and conduct root cause analysis of outage events.

SCADA: Provide engineering and support necessary to ensure reliable operations of LCEC's SCADA system.

System Operations: Participate in analysis of Systems Operations data and systems such as SCADA, Utility Center and TWACs Automatic Meter Reading System – specifically, outage information, device operations, system flows & system disturbances.

Operations / Maintenance: Assist in the construction and maintenance areas of substations and distribution operations.

Requirements

Required & Desired Qualifications (by grade):
Associate Engineer (ET5)

REQUIRED

BS / Electrical Engineering (or AA in EET with 2 years exp.)-Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one upon employment

DESIRED:
BS / Electrical Engineering

3 years engineering experience

2 years experience in power engineering profession

Engineer I (ET6)

REQUIRED:
BS / Electrical Engineering

3 years engineering experience

2 years experience in power engineering profession

1 years experience in E&O engineering role

Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one upon employment

DESIRED:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering

Licensed professional engineer

Engineer II (ET7)

REQUIRED:
BS / Electrical Engineering

7 years engineering experience

5 years experience in power engineering profession

3 years experience in E&O engineering role - multiple roles & rotations (e.g. reliability, protection)

Florida driver's license or ability

DESIRED:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering

Licensed professional engineer

Senior Engineer (ET8)

REQUIRED:
BS / Electrical Engineering

15 years engineering experience

10 years experience in power engineering profession

7 years experience in E&O engineering roles - experience in at least 2 areas & qualified to fill in multiple functions

Experience leading

DESIRED:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering

Licensed professional engineer

Recognition in the profession as a specialist in field (teaching, writing)

Experience in multiple areas of electrical engineering
