Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American R&D and manufacturing operations, joining the operations, planning and technical functions. Established in April 2006, TEMA strengthens Toyota's North American customer focus, through improved supplier cooperation, overall speed, flexibility and attention to quality. TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center. The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor and Saline, MI. The Powertrain Modeling and Control Research Engineer position is in the PTC department, located in Ann Arbor, MI.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Conduct Control Theory Research for Integrated Powertrain, and Drivetrain Control.
Conduct Plant Modeling Research for Integrated Powertrain, and Drivetrain Control.
Apply theory to design integrated automotive control: MIL, SIL, HIL, engine test-bench, vehicle.
Document and Report Results
Capture innovative work in Invention Disclosures.
Present and Attend Related Professional Conferences.
Publish in Professional Journals.
PhD in Control Theory required
Minimum of 1 year of experience in plant modeling
Experience with Automotive Control Systems preferred
Experience with Matlab/Simulink
Excellent communication: written, oral, visual
Ability to travel to Japan: One week per year
Ability to conduct project meetings with Japan: Weekly
