DESCRIPTION

Milestones Preschool in Palo Alto is an inclusive program serving children with and without disabilities in a developmentally responsive environment. The program utilizes a developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) model to create curriculum and provide services. We are also NAEYC accredited.

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, provide a safe and developmentally appropriate education environment where preschool children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills; works collaboratively with a large developmental staff.

DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure health & safety of students, personnel & visitors at all times
  • Ensure a healthy, safe & clean environment
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirement and agency policies
--Ensure highest ethical & business practices
--Demonstrate excellent understanding of childhood development, both typical and atypical
--Supervise children in the classroom
  • Provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice proactive appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors
  • Implement curriculum and education for preschool children in an integrated setting
  • Provide age and developmentally appropriate activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving
  • Interact with parents and community groups; maintain professional, open and cooperative communication with parents and families
  • Provide information to parents regarding child's development, abilities and areas of concerns
  • Provide Case Management including biannual assessments and writing reports
  • Able to provide direct services to children including floor activities, sitting, kneeling, crawling, etc.
  • Able to stand/sit for extended periods, kneel, reach and bend related to completion of duties.
  • Able to actively participate in indoor and outdoor preschool activities
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Plan and prepare class setting independently or under general supervision-Participate in staff meetings
  • Participate in trainings as directed
  • Provide information to parents concerning child's development, abilities, and areas of concern
  • Attend and participate in back to school nights, parent support groups/advisory groups, and open houses as assigned
  • Communicate relevant information about children & family needs to team members
  • Complete projects assigned
  • Assist with classroom set-up and clan-up daily
  • Lead circle
