PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Develops, maintains and trains others on several different print and electronic publishing software applications and product lines to support media production for T. Rowe Price communications. Has knowledge of full Marketing Services suite of capabilities and products and is skilled in multiple capability areas and/or product areas. Serves as part of a global production service, providing solutions to business units in all office locations that need to communicate messages in a timely manner with the highest level of quality. Consults with authority with internal partners on best practices in print and electronic message creation and communicates instruction to external vendors to achieve more efficiency and consistency for routine tasks.
Serves as an expert on various software systems used to produce multimedia and print computer files for use on the web, in printed materials or in e-mail. Possesses expertise across varied subject areas and technology. Recommends tests and leads change in the processes used to construct print- and web-ready files or html code for T. Rowe Price communications via electronic or conventional delivery. Recommends new processes or capabilities to add new services to Marketing Services. Thinks broadly, creatively and strategically, applying advanced software knowledge to create solutions for regular business partner challenges. Independently manages routine and special product projects to meet time and quality requirements.
Creates, edits, constructs and programs/codes print- and web-ready files or html code for T. Rowe Price communications via electronic or conventional delivery. Converts documents to PDF for print or multifunctional electronic delivery and adheres to publishing standards and procedures. Independently researches, tests and incorporates process improvements and efficiencies. Trains peers in best practices and new procedures.
Interacts diplomatically with business units, facilitates meetings and delivers effective presentations. Builds and maintains interdepartmental relationships and confidence in Marketing Services solutions. Is client focused and is regarded as a leader in knowledge of both print and electronic publishing. Trains clients where applicable.
Initiates self-development by setting personal goals and objectives. Keeps up-to-date on new software, hardware, products and procedures in print and electronic publishing. Pursues cultural learning and grows competence in global communication. Adjusts to change and accommodates new requirements by expanding skill set or conceiving of alternative solutions.
Follows all department procedures for inputting time tracking data which assures the compilation of accurate metrics, reporting, and billing by department management. Also follows all network procedures for document storage and file maintenance to keep servers organized, in the correct format and up-to-date.
Bachelor’s degree in publishing or related field
E-mail marketing knowledge
Familiarity with tagging languages including XML, XBRL
Database administration experience
Knowledge of financial printing
Familiarity with content management, digital asset management and web content management
Post-secondary education in design, publishing, web publishing or similar discipline
4 years print and/or electronic production experience
High school diploma/equivalent and 1 year related work experience, or
Associate degree, or
Has exceptional knowledgeable over a wide range of publishing media
Experience managing production projects
Print and electronic delivery production best practices and industry standards
High degree of originality and creativity
Ability to coordinate with professional design staff
Comprehensive knowledge of software and hardware used in print production including Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat and Microsoft Office
Comprehensive knowledge of software used in electronic delivery of communication messages including PowerPoint, html software, video software or WCM software.
Command of fonts and how they are managed in software applications
Thorough understanding of color management
Expert knowledge of electronic pre-press
Complete understanding of graphics formats, including TIF, EPS, JPEG, GIF, animated graphic files
Command of page layout formats, master pages, and style sheets
Full comprehension of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat tools including PitStop
Video software experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to respond quickly to changes and opportunities
Skill in building positive relationships with peers, internal clients and outside vendors
Conscious of quality in communication production
