Primary Responsibilities

The president is the spiritual leader of Sioux Falls Seminary, called to develop a sense of unity and high common purpose around the seminary’s mission.
The president is the chief executive officer of Sioux Falls Seminary; under the authority of the Board of Trustees, the president is responsible for recruiting personnel, implementing policies, and developing resources for achieving the mission of the seminary.
The president is the chief vision-caster and strategic planner for Sioux Falls Seminary, responsible for creating a dynamic and compelling vision, communicating that vision, and strategically moving the seminary toward achievement of that vision.
The president is the chief fund-raiser for Sioux Falls Seminary, working with the Vice President for Enrollment and Development to build a strong financial base of support for the seminary.
The president is a change leader — a motivator who sets a tone of excellence, stimulates entrepreneurial thinking, and inspires commitment among all of the seminary constituencies.
The president is a team builder, one who listens with discernment, communicates well, builds trust, and inspires the various constituencies of the seminary to work together for the achievement of mission.
The president is an ethical leader, exhibiting unfailing personal and professional integrity and assuring that the seminary operates with integrity theologically, academically, and fiscally.


A mature personal faith and a disciplined commitment to Jesus Christ
Theological convictions consistent with the Statement of Beliefs of the North American Baptist Conference; must be a member of a North American Baptist church while serving as president of Sioux Falls Seminary
A clear and compelling vision for theological education and a sound strategy for implementing that vision at Sioux Falls Seminary
A proven ability to raise funds and develop relationships with key constituents, including alumni, donors, church leaders, and business/community leaders
A strong background in organizational leadership, preferably with experience leading a business, non-profit, or educational institution
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
An earned doctorate is preferred but not required
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation and competitive benefit package will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
