Performs mechanical work associated w/ routine service, preventive maintenance, & general repair of automobiles, trucks, small engines & mechanical equipment. Tests vehicles, machinery, equipment, & parts for proper operations; conducts test drives. Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, & monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees & other individuals; reports accidents & incidents. Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, logs, work tickets, parts requisitions, service records, mileage records, timesheets, or other documents.
HS diploma/GED; plus vocational/technical training and 1 yr previous exp &/or training involving auto maintenance/repair, mechanical/engine diagnosis, small engines, transmission & brake repair, & vehicle operation; or any equal combination of education, training, & exp which provides the knowledge, skills, & abilities for job. Must have valid ASE Technician Cert, or must earn in the position. Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license. Operation of heavy equipment requires valid Georgia CDL.
