The Principal Business Intelligence Analyst will work directly with the internal Aspen Tech customers to support business reporting functions using Oracle Business Intelligence Reporting (OBIEE) and the Oracle suite of applications. This position reports into the Director of Financial Business Systems.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of fundamentals of financial reporting. Responsibilities include working closely with key business customers and data consumers to define critical information needs, providing guidance regarding availability of data, capability of systems to meet information needs, and subject matter expertise regarding current systems and emerging reporting tools. The Analyst will establish and maintain positive business relationships with managers and staff in their functional areas, demonstrate a thorough understanding of the business, their processes, and their reporting priorities. The position will work with business process owners and Corporate IT to gather requirements and identify solutions to enable reporting/dashboard requirements. Serves as a Subject Matter expert to the business regarding how the system can support desired business reporting requirements in the OBIEE environment. Develops and modifies reports using OBI Answers. The primary goal is to help business users understand and manipulate their data in order to gain value from it. This includes supporting ad hoc data analysis requests, providing users with hands-on training or showing them the best way to layout data visualizations.
Responsible for the support of end users for all subject areas emphasis on Financials, Order Operations and FP&A corporate reporting
Lead and participate on project teams implementing new Oracle subject areas, features, or functionality of OBIEE
Act as a primary liaison for all business users for support and project related activities while working and coordinating with the IT teams.
Work with end users on business requirements to help implement and drive new reporting needs
Translate end-user requirements and specifications into efficient executable project plans
Develop project plans and timelines to meet critical delivery dates
Develop testing scenarios and required testing environment and procedures
Provide guidance and troubleshoot issues related to Oracle Business Intelligence Reporting
BS in Finance, Computer Science or related degree
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with Business Analysis and Reporting, and detailed knowledge of any BI Framework modeling and report development
Demonstrated Project Management skills also required.
Developed comprehensive reports and dashboards on financial and business performance and interpreted data to executives
Expert user of Excel, with dashboard development including dynamic functions, Pivot Tables, VBA, and Macros
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Team player willing to work collaboratively alongside technology staff to get the job done.
Preferably has knowledge and experience of Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management or any other data warehouse/ BI Framework
Preferably has technical expertise and ability in writing simple SQL-based queries using TOAD, SQL*PLUS or any other querying tool
