Principal Communications Engineer (Job Number: 318298)


The Mission Support Business Unit currently has an opening for a Communications Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME). This full-time position provides technical support to the program office in the development and maintenance of multiple secure IT and communication networks. These networks include both terrestrial and SATCOM elements. The position requires travel to coordinate and maintain awareness of activities at multiple sites throughout the United States. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance and be willing to take a polygraph.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Communications Engineering SME will perform the following duties:

1) Serve as a program office liaison monitoring the development, implementation and operations of multiple sensor secure IT and communication networks to be integrated at multiple sites, 2) Track system requirements from top-level through formal validation and verification, 3) Monitor integration and acceptance testing, 4) Identify risk and recommend mitigation techniques, 5) Provide independent assessments of proposed plans, and 6) Interface with seniors in industry and government to communicate status and ensure successful program execution.


Experience: Candidates have 15+ years experience with secure IT and communication networks.

Education/Training: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline related to the development, integration and testing of IT and communication networks. Master’s Degree in one of the fields mentioned above is preferred.

Skills: Candidates must have relevant experience in the area of Network engineering. It would be beneficial to have a broad technical background and organizational skills. Background in requirements generation, intelligence community ground systems, network security, and end-to-end performance testing are desired. The selected candidate must be proficient in MS Office.
