MNES has an opportunity for a Principal Engineer to join our team to support licensing, engineering, procurement and construction activities for the US-APWR. The position is based in Arlington, Virginia.
Basic duties and responsibilities of the position include:
Responsible for managing and coordinating all activities for operator and technical training and operating procedures (including Emergency Response Guideline, Severe Accident Management Guideline, Normal Operating Procedures, Abnormal Operating Procedures and Emergency Operating Procedure) and associate activities (i.e. new plant operator licensing readiness with utilities and human factor engineering with NRC and utilities) for Mitsubishi US Advanced Pressurized Water Reactor (US-APWR).
Interface closely within Engineering to assure interface problems are identified and resolved in a timely manner. Other interfaces include other departments, MHI, and subcontractors.
Develop guidelines, procedures, design/assessment documents and licensing documents including licensing application.
Technical review and response of design documents and licensing documents, including those developed by contractors.
Preparation of presentation materials and providing presentations to regulations, nuclear related organizations (such as NEI, EPRI, INPO, ANS and ASME) or customers.
Technical support for sales promotion activities in the US for MHI's nuclear business including response to questions from potential customers and assisting business presentations.
Attending regulatory and industry meetings, including those organized by NEI, EPRI, INPO, ANS and ASME.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Science, or equivalent degree required. Minimum of three (3) years experience of 4-loop PWR commercial plant operation as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) and minimum of five (5) years experience of dealing with technical aspects of nuclear engineering and/or PWR operations. Working knowledge of operator training, technical writing and operating procedures/guidelines for PWR nuclear plant and experience in/as: licensed Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or Reactor Operator (RO) or Shift Technical Supervisor (STA) or Shift Manager (SM), training program development for plant operators, operating procedure development for PWR plant, and new plant operator licensing/readiness & human factor engineering.
