Our Washington Operations is currently seeking a Principal Civil/Infrastructure Engineer with an interest and familiarity in civil design and water and wastewater conveyance, and who has a minimum of 10 years of consulting experience helping manage and execute work on existing projects. The selected candidate will work closely with strong technical experts.

  • Delegate projects to engineers, designers, and drafters and supervise their work
  • Make decisions and solve problems
  • Lead project team in planning and designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a number of projects or a project of major scope, with full technical responsibility. Maintain liaison with individuals outside the organization. Direct and supervise the work of a staff of engineers, designers and drafters
  • Manage and execute work involving civil and utility engineering principles and other related activities for new and existing wastewater, conveyance, and civil/site projects
  • Develop and prepare specifications, detailed design drawings, reports, planning, and construction submittal reviews, calculations, models and other technical deliverables for civil/utility, conveyance and infrastructure related projects
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make adaptations and modifications to projects
  • Direct the work of, communicate effectively and coordinate with, multi-discipline project teams and subconsultants
  • Provide consultation in specialized areas (wastewater/water conveyance and civil design), prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
  • Work directly with clients in planning, negotiating and executing projects
  • Assist and lead business development pursuits
  • Position may require minimal travel and off-site field visits
Position Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Environmental, etc.); M.S. degree in related engineering field with a focus on wastewater and water conveyance and civil site/hydraulic design preferred
  • 10-15 years of progressively increasing responsibility required
  • PE required
  • Strong project management skills required
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience required
  • CAD and Civil3D experience a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation essential
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and the ability to multi-task essential
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite essential
